Overview

Aaron Jay (“A.J.”) Horowitz is the Managing Shareholder of the Horowitz Law Firm, P.A., a boutique law firm that assists with general legal counseling for businesses, business transactions and business litigation matters.

Previously, Aaron was a Shareholder and Chair of the statewide Dispute Resolution Practice Group of Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A., a 250+ attorney law firm with over a dozen offices. Aaron practiced law in that firm’s Fort Lauderdale office for 12 years.

Aaron has been consistently selected to the Best Lawyers in America list and as a “Legal Elite” by Florida Trend. He has also received distinctions from the South Florida Business Journal, Florida Super Lawyers, The National Trial Lawyers, and the South Florida Legal Guide. Aaron has also received an inaugural award from an Executive Council of the Florida Bar for leadership and dedication. Recently, the Horowitz Law Firm, P.A. was selected as a “Tier 1” recipient of the “Best Law Firms” designation by U.S. News and World Report.

Aaron is the President of the Broward County Bar Association.

Practice Areas

Business Transactions, Outside General Counsel and Business Litigation. Aaron serves as outside general counsel to businesses across the country, from small family owned businesses to publicly traded companies. For these businesses, Aaron advises these businesses on negotiations and transactions to ensure their interests are protected. For example, Aaron assists businesses with matters relating to entity creation, corporate structure, corporate governance, shareholder/member rights, mergers and acquisitions, contract review, business succession planning, employment law counseling, intellectual property protection and real estate issues. Aaron also brings and defends complex business disputes in court and arbitrations, often with millions of dollars at issue. These litigation matters involve breach of contract, corporate governance, real estate, employment, securities, intellectual property and estate and trust issues. In addition to litigating at the trial court level, Aaron has represented businesses in appellate proceedings before state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. Aaron previously served as Chair of the Business Law Section and Chair of the Bench & Bar Committee of the Broward County Bar Association. 

Aaron’s Clients. Aaron’s clients have ranged from Fortune 100 companies to start-ups across diverse industries, and include national and local banks, real estate funds, private equity firms, land developers, pharmaceutical companies, biotech companies, aerospace and defense contractors, automobile manufacturers and dealers, construction and engineering firms, accounting and law firms, wealth management firms, universities, luxury goods manufacturers, software developers, cloud computing service providers, internet marketers, advertising agencies, agricultural and food producers, physician groups, gaming and entertainment companies, hotels, beach resorts and consumer product manufacturers.

Alternative Dispute Resolution: Aaron is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit Civil Mediator, Florida Supreme Court Certified Appellate Mediator and a Florida Supreme Court Qualified Arbitrator. He serves as a member of the prestigious National Roster of Commercial Arbitrators with the American Arbitration Association. Aaron has also served on the Executive Council that oversees the Florida Bar’s 1,100-member Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, where Aaron Chaired the Business, Employment and Real Estate Disputes Committee.
